Reconnaissance is a print project made using open source images captured in Mars with the Reconnaissance Orbiter HiRISE imager. The book refers to the origin of these images, their retrieval processes and if this captured information can in fact be considered as photographic representations. The images are rarely visible in their complete form in the book, rather they are deconstructed, layered upon and processed, in a way visualizing and “expanding” the processes of the data being recorded, structured and transmitted with a scientific methodology and outlining the contradictory nature of scientific imaging as a form of photographic representation.
